PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The United States Embassy is pleased to announce the first English Skills Strengthening Camp (ESCET) for high school English teachers. In the interest to contribute to improving the quality of English teaching in high schools, ESCET will provide 40 secondary school teachers from cities and villages out of Managua with a unique opportunity to develop and enhance their language skills and increase their knowledge about the United States. The participants will travel to Granada to participate in an intensive English one-week program which will focus on helping them to improve both their English accuracy and fluency. In addition, participants will learn about different aspects of the American culture in order develop a better understanding of US. Upon returning home, participants will be able to apply their knowledge and share their experience and skills with their peers and students.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be:
Secondary school teacher with classroom experience in English as a Foreign Language
Minimum TOEFL score of 420
Continue teaching for at least five years after completion of the program
Submit a complete application and be interviewed.
SELECTION PROCESS
ESCET participants will be selected through a merit-based open competition. After the deadline, U.S. Embassy Commission will review all eligible applications. Top candidates will be interviewed by the U.S. Embassy and will take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) examination and/or another English-language proficiency exam. An independent, U.S.-based selection committee will conduct a final review of applicants with top interview and TOEFL scores.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
